Sendmail Hires Busse Design to Redesign Multiple Layers of Company Interface
Emeryville, CA 02.05 - 09.05 - When Sendmail came to Busse Design there were several projects in line to redesign and update, beginning with brand identity
Logo Development
Busse simultaneously recreated the Sendmail’s Logo and the identifying icon of one Sendmail’s major products. The Logo Development focused solely on the definition and design of the company’s brand as it is represented in the logo. Busse went through several exploration rounds to help define what style and imagery was most appropriate in representing Sendmail’s products and goals. The end result was a logo designed to work effectively across multiple media, enabling Busse to create a unified brand experience throughout the other project elements.
Heuristic Analysis & Evaluation
In order to save time and make the processes of application and website design as efficient as possible Busse held Heuristic Evaluations. Busse first attained an understanding of the site’s ideal message from information gathering and evaluation of the overall features. Once functionality and user tasks were transformed into the User Interface, Busse Design’s experts began their examination the interface. The UI was measured against standard usability conventions as well as user data provided by the client. Busse generated a Findings and Recommendations Report which identified issues, product downfalls and strong points. The document’s focus was on addressing the top 10 identified problems and giving recommendation as to what adjustments needed to be made to those issues in order to improve usability.
Sentrion Application
Busse redesigned from start to finish the complete front end of Sendmail Sentrion. Sendmail Sentrion is the industry's only email gateway security appliance family that is designed to handle market-leading volumes of up to 1.5 million messages per hour. Built on the Sendmail MTA, the global standard for Internet mail routing, the Sentrion email security appliance family features two models: Sentrion Guardian and Sentrion Gatekeeper.
Sentrion™ Guardian is an email security appliance designed to protect against target attacks (DoS and DHA) and unwanted SMTP connections.
Sentrion™ Gatekeeper is an email security appliance designed to defend against targeted attacks while providing advanced control and filtering of inbound and outbound messaging.
Corporate Website
While constructing the Sentrion Application, Busse developed a new look-and-feel for the Sendmail Corporate Website. The design sought to extend, strengthen and further establish the brand, while being visually appealing to it’s audience, facilitating passion and interest. The design also reinforced important messages and accentuated areas of importance determined to be central to the business. Busse also developed customized flash and graphics.
Newsletter/Articles Templates
Whitepaper E-mail Security Management
In addition to the company website, Busse also designed several elements of internal communication. Busse created the templates for company Newsletters and internal articles, while developing four design directions for their Whitepapers.
