Page Structure & Information Hierarchy Definition

With the results from HFTA along with the completed site maps and workflows, Busse Design was able to create interface layouts that resolved various information hierarchy and usability deficits. From accommodating extremely long URLs in a narrow directory display to consolidating related data elements, the UI sketches answered several questions and created a platform for discussing presentation challenges with the engineering team.

Pencil UI sketches helped us to separate the left-brain (analytical) from the right-brain (creative), focusing on physical hierarchy with grayscale "placeholder" design elements. Once the hierarchy is established, tested and validated, we then move on to design development. This conscious bias for the left-brain eliminates the distraction of personal design preferences and keeps the entire team focused on the application's information architecture and grid structure.
