User Modeling & Human Factors Task Analysis
Busse Design USA's Human Factor Task Analysis (HFTA) is designed to contextualize usability problems by accounting for differences in user types, environmental factors and other influences on Red Hat Network's usability. Because HFTA revealed major differences in core audiences, we had to focus on uncovering logical steps for a variety of tasks from multiple user perspectives.
From the individual user running five servers to the enterprise CTO managing multiple network systems, we compared user profiles to the tasks associated with each profile. Ranking the tasks in order of usage and importance allowed us to create information hierarchies that were appropriate for each constituency.
